Indian Mound Golf Club
Indian Mound is the kind of course that doesn't show up on a single "best of" list and that's exactly why the Pack loves it. Tucked into the hills of Temple, it's an honest, old-school New England track that rewards golf IQ over raw power.
Off the tee, the driver is a trap on at least six holes. The fairways pinch right where the big stick wants to land, and the rough is no joke in summer. Leave the driver in the bag, hit your 3-wood or a long iron, and you'll score. Try to overpower it and Indian Mound will hand you a 7 before you've had your coffee.
The greens are the real story — firm, fast, and rolling 10.5 the day we played. They hold a well-struck iron but spit out anything thin. Read the grain; everything breaks toward the valley even when your eyes say otherwise.
The 18th is a legit closer: a dogleg that dares you to cut the corner, with a green guarded short by a bunker that has eaten more match-play dreams than anyone will admit. Bet your buddy a beer on it. You'll win more than you lose once you know the line.
Value is elite. Walkable, no attitude in the pro shop, and you can usually get out fast on a weekday. This is a course you bring your real game to — not your ego. Fox Approved.
